Bailies Meet

EW

BAILIES

My team when we found out we were going to Bailies this year...
Creds: pix good

Just so you know, Literally every person on my team absolutely hates this meet.  We always do terrible at it and we just hate meet overall.

But this year, was different.  We all did very well at the meet and we were very happy with the turnout.

Our first event was vault. We had a great warm-ups and all four of us stuck our vaults and were fully satisfied with our scores.  I got a 9.025 which I was very happy with.  We were excited and nervous as we headed for bars.

Next was bars.  I was especially nervous for bars because I had been falling in my squat on in practice almost every time.  Warmups shook me up because I made exactly one squat on.  Brenna went before me and I was second.  I saluted the judges and turned to face the bars.  I stood on the springboard for what seemed like forever trying to get my nerves to calm down.  I kipped up, stooped my feet onto the bar and jumped. I made it!!! I nailed my routine and stuck the landing. Unfortunately, the judges thought otherwise.  I scored an 8.25. Everybody was shocked and my coach ran to the judges to investigate! The judges were stubborn poops who wouldn't change my score which kinda sucked.

Next was Beam.  We took our grips off and immediately started beam warmups.  Brenna warmed up first, she fell in every single skill she did.  I warmed up next, I fell about 4 times.  This was making us nervous.  Brenna got up and did an ok routine with 2 falls.  I went up next, I stuck every skill except for my stupid cartwheel. 8.625.  After me, Kylie went up.  She fell in her full turn, and fell flat on her face in her dismount.  Tasia got up and nailed her routine. Beam overall was pretty bad for the team.  We had to shake off beam because we still had one more event left.

Last was floor, my fave.  I messed up on some of my dance moves at the beginning, but overall I did a fabulous routine.  I stuck my roundoff back handspring back tuck and my front tuck.  I got a 9.150.

Awards was the best! Kylie, Brenna and Tasia were all competing in the same age division, and I was in a different one.  Kylie rounded up 4 gold medals including one for all around! My scores were...
Vault: 1st
Bars: 6th
Beam: 3rd
Floor: 1st
AA: 3rd
Me on first place!

But the best thing by far was that our team won First Place in team awards!! This meet was by far better than the last and we were all satisfied with our awards! We celebrated by going to Noodles and Company to continue our tradition.

Some Swaggin Videos

Ok so I kinda like to make video edits of me and my friends doing gymnastics and I thought I would show you them...

1. My Birthday
So fun story.  All of the clips from this were taken on my birthday.  Shortly after filming on beam, I injured myself.  What sucks though is that we didn't get it on film.  So basically I was in the hospital on my birthday...aaaannnywho, here's the video...

2. The Cow
This video was taken a couple of days before Halloween.  I made a cow costume for Halloween last year. I was originally going to write a post about Halloween and put this video at the end...but that post never really happened.  I laugh every time I watch this because it's such a swaggy video, but i'm in a cow suit sooooo...

3. Me and Kylie
Once upon a Saturday, me and Kylie were bored.  We decided to go outside and try to take some artsy gymnastics pictures.  We ended up taking slow motion videos so that it would be easier to pause them and screen shot them.  We had a bunch of slow motion videos on my phone so we decided to make a movie with them, this was the result...

4. Back Tuck
This video was taken on the same night that me and Kylie took our clips for the previous video, this is just a video of Kylie doing a back tuck that I edited really cool. I love the background of this because the sun was setting and the sky looked orange and cool! Enjoy...

5. Bruh
This video was taken a long time ago.  It was taken on the very first day I'm going to do a back tuck (so a while ago).  At the time it was like the coolest thing ever for me and I was really excited so I had Tasia film it for me. Later, I added some music and slowed it down a little, here is the result….
(BTW if you were wondering why I called it "BRUH" it's because I posted it on Vine one time and I have no idea what to caption it so that's what I did...)

6. Bars Dismount
This video was taken the day I tried this really fun and weird dismount on bars.  I filmed my whole routine but I just decided to edit and add music to my dismount.  So here is the video...

That's all for this blog post. I hope you enjoyed watching these because some of them took me a long time to edit.  I will probably do another one of these posts in the future when I make more videos, but for now I only have 6. Ok byeeeee

22 Hours of Gymnastics Later...

So you would think that over holiday break we would get a break from gymnastics...think again.  Over holiday break they pretty much doubled our practice hours. We had practice every day over break except for Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Our workout schedule was like this...
Monday, December 22nd:  1-3:30
Tuesday, December 23rd: 5-7:30
Friday, December 26th: 9 am - 2 pm
Monday, December 29th: 2-5
Tuesday, December 30th: 2-5
Wednesday, December 31st: 9am-2pm

The days that were 6 hours each were called "gymnastics camp" these were the days that we got the most work done.  All of the levels came to the gym and we rotated through events and coaches. This was nice because we got to get corrections from new coaches that we had never been coached by before.  On these days we also got to work new skills and take a break from the same old routines.  Kylie got a new beam dismount, a round off back tuck off the end...I was too scared to try it.  I worked on fly-aways on bars.  A fly-away is where you are swinging on the high bar and you let go and flip once before you land. Like this...

On most of the days during break, Kylie and I got to work in with the level 5 and 6 girls since that's about the level we are.  It was really fun to train with some new girls and make new friends.  One of the girls we met, Taylor, was from Ohio and was staying in Park City and training in our gym over winter break!  She told us that at her gym in Ohio, they had 4...yes 4 floors, 15 beams, 6 sets of bars, and like 5 vault runways!

Our last day of Gymnastics camp was on New Years Eve, it was another 6 hour practice. I was the only one there from our team. I worked with the level 5 and 6's again. This time was a little different, because we worked less on Beam, Bars, Floor, and Vault, and more on tramp, tumble track, and rod floor.  This was fun because tumbling is my favorite! I got my tumbling to be more powerful and I even attempted some layouts. (key word being "attempted".)

It wasn't JUST tumbling on the last day...because if you've ever tried to do backflips and twists for 6 hours straight...it doesn't end well.  We worked on bars and vault a little.  Here is a video of me working bars...(no fly-away :( )
So I guess that's all! But I'm not at my word limit yet so let's talk some more!  I am having a meet this weekend in draper...BAILIES. *dun dun duuuuun*. We all hate the Bailies meet, so prepare for a rant when I post about it.  Literally last year at that meet:

  • I got a 7.8 on floor (my best event)
  • Brenna completely forgot her beam routine
  • They registered Cody in the wrong age division.
  • They didn't even register me!!
Ok byeeeeee.
